Footbag/Hacky Sacks Never Get Old

Who would have thought hacky sacks would be such a cool social enjoyment?Hackies are for everybody, not only for hippies. I, for the longest time, have played with some sort of hacky sack when I was in my teens. I noticed more people kicking the footbag/hacky sack around during my years in college. Talk about a great way to network with different crowds that normaly you wouldn’t even hang out with.

After college I stopped playing, but I can’t point my finger as to why. I boxed the hacky up and forgot about it. It’s been a few years since I played with my sack, hacky sack that is. No X-ratted stuff in this post. : )

I happen to look through a random box one day and saw the hacky. I pulled it out, brushed off the dust and started kicking it around again. This, of course, wasn’t my best idea at the time seeings how I was indoors hitting everything in sight. Yana (my beautiful, understanding, forgiving wife of mine) looked at me like I was crazy. Frank, our dog, wasn’t too happy, because he thought I was wanting to play with him, but soon realized that this toy wasn’t for him at all. He sure knew how to give the puppy eye stare. You could see him staring at the ball like it was the end of the world.

Did I mechine that I haven’t played with the hacky sack for a long time? After 15 minutes of kicking it around, my legs were killing me.

I forgot how much of a workout kicking a hacky sack around was. The burning feeling in my legs was something that I got over quick. Good thing, too, because everyday since I pulled out the hacky sack, I haven’t stop playing with it.

Have you ever heard the term, “if you don’t use it, you lose it”?

Well, this happens to be true with me. I couldn’t keep it up….

… man this post seems a little more provocative than I thought. Oops.

Well, what I was trying to get at was that my muscle memory wasn’t reacting the way I wanted. My eye and leg coordination just wasn’t there.  But sure enough, like anything else, with a little bit of focused effort my game was back in no time.

Is it just me or am I crazy to be getting back into kicking the hacky around again?

I would love to know your thoughts on if you like to play with hackies and if you do, how aggressive are you with the sport?
